NinjaTrader 8 · Volume profile
Where the auction actually
spent its time.
ACT Auction Profile builds the volume distribution for each session and marks the levels that matter afterwards — the point of control, the value area, the nodes price refused to trade at, and the VPOCs it left behind and has not come back to.
What it draws
The distribution, and the levels it leaves behind.
A profile is only useful if it survives the session that made it. These are the marks that stay on the chart and keep mattering tomorrow.
POC, and developing POC
The price with the most traded volume, drawn as a line — plus the developing POC that moves as the session builds, so you can watch acceptance shift in real time rather than only seeing it afterwards.
Yours to define
The value area percentage is a setting, not a hard-coded 70. High and low are drawn as lines, and the developing value area updates live alongside the developing POC.
VPOCs price hasn't returned to
Naked VPOCs and naked value-area lines are carried forward until price trades back through them. These are the unfinished business of previous sessions, and they are the reason to keep a profile on the chart at all.
The opening range that counts
The initial balance is drawn over a period you set in minutes, so it matches how you actually define the open rather than a fixed hour.
Where price refused to stay
Thin areas in the distribution are flagged against a threshold you set as a percentage. They are the levels price tends to move through quickly, which makes them useful for both targets and stops.
Days merged into one shape
Merge any number of days into a single distribution at its own width, for the longer-term picture underneath the session profiles. Overnight is a separate toggle so it never contaminates your RTH shape.
Inside the indicator
Every level is a setting.
Row height, value area, initial balance, the low-volume threshold and the session windows are all exposed in the NinjaTrader properties grid.
Resolution and source
Row height in ticks decides how fine the histogram is. The volume source is selectable between tick and minute data — tick for precision, minute when you want to keep your feed light. Days rendered, RTH start and end, and the overnight toggle control what is on screen.
Readable next to price
Profile width as a percentage with a pixel cap, histogram opacity, composite width, and independent toggles for value-area lines, the POC line, naked levels, the initial balance, low-volume nodes and labels — so the chart carries only what you use.

Questions
Before you buy
How does the free trial bill?
The trial gives you seven days at no charge. On day 8 it converts to the full $297 licence and your card is charged automatically — it is a trial of the paid product, not a separate free version. If you decide against it, cancel from your member area at any point during the seven days and nothing is taken.
Do I need Level 2 data for Auction Profile?
No. Unlike FlowRegime, Auction Profile does not read the order book. It builds its distribution from traded volume, and you choose the source: Tick data gives a precise per-price histogram, Minute data is lighter on your feed and still gives a usable shape. Tick is what you want for anything you intend to trade off.
What does it actually draw?
A volume histogram per session at your chosen row height in ticks, with the point of control and a value area you set the percentage for. On top of that: developing POC and developing value area high and low as the session builds, naked VPOCs and naked value-area lines carried forward until price returns to them, the initial balance over a period you define, and low-volume nodes flagged against a threshold you set. Composite profiles merge any number of days into one distribution.
Can I run it on overnight and composite sessions?
Yes. The RTH window is set by start and end times, the overnight profile is a separate toggle, and the composite renders across a configurable number of days at its own width. You control how many days are drawn at once.
Is this a strategy? Does it place orders?
No. It is an indicator. It draws profiles, lines and labels, and an optional dashboard. It never submits an order and has no access to your account.
Which NinjaTrader version does it need?
NinjaTrader 8. It imports through Control Center → Tools → Import → NinjaScript Add-On… like any other add-on.
